Frances Miller (1861 – 1943)

Frances (known as Fanny), the ninth child of Peter and Janet Miller was born on the 10 August 1861 at Braeside, the twin sister of Thomas.
A list of all children in the family is here.

Fanny lived all of her life at Braeside, initially with her parents and later with her brothers,  John and David, and sister Rebecca. Like her sister Rebecca, Fanny never married.

After the deaths of their brothers in 1906 and 1919, Fanny and Beck (as she was known) worked Braeside with the help of their nephews

Fanny and Beck collected jugs and there was quite a collection of them at Braeside.

After Beck died in 1933,  James Shearer Miller, a nephew and his wife Bess came back from Auburn where they were farming to help Fanny run the farm.

Fanny had a sweet nature and was much loved by her great nieces and nephews.

She was deaf and could be seen at church with her hearing trumpet to her ear to help her hear the minister.

Fanny died on the 7 August 1943 at Braeside, a few days short of her 82nd birthday and  is buried with her sister at the South Rhine Cemetery.

She left  the farm, Braeside  to her great nephew David Fotheringham Miller.
