Family of Peter and Janet Miller

Of the 10 children (seven boys and three girls) born to Peter and Janet, three were born on Stronsay, Peter, James and William.

Janet was born on the voyage out and the six, youngest were born at the family farm, Braeside.

Only four of the children married and of these only the eldest two sons, Peter and James have descendants through the generations. The two brothers married Shearer sisters.  So all  descendants of this branch of the Miller family are also Shearer descendants. These are the two most significant families in the life and history  of the South Rhine Church.

Daughter, Janet married, and had one daughter also named Janet, but known as Lillie, who married aged 56 and had no children of her own. Her husband, was a widower with five (surviving) children from his first marriage.

The only other son to marry, Edward, married late in life and did not have any children.
